The Collegiate Church and the Cathedral Treasury mark the start of the new tour

The World Heritage town of Quedlinburg and the Protestant parish of Quedlinburg have once again reaffirmed their partnership on the Stiftsberg.

The 36 participants in the "Stiftsberg Tour Guide" course received their certificates of participation in an extraordinary setting.

The Stiftsberg Quedlinburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of inestimable value, is setting new standards in fire protection: for the first time, a hot foam extinguishing system is being used in a listed building of international importance – protecting the historic attic rooms and valuable cultural treasures of the Stiftsberg.

As part of the redevelopment of Stiftsberg, the two historic treasure chambers are currently undergoing a thorough refurbishment. The cathedral treasure has therefore been temporarily relocated – but only a few steps away.

Accessibility is not an extra, but a requirement. That is why the new tour of the World Heritage Site Stiftsberg Quedlinburg has been designed from the outset to ensure that as many people as possible can experience it.

Following extensive renovation work, a new chapter is beginning at the Stiftsberg Quedlinburg World Heritage Site. From 28 March, visitors will be able to experience the exhibition in St. Servatii Collegiate Church and the new shared entrance area for the castle and church. These mark the start of a new, interconnected, barrier-free cultural space.

Work on the new permanent exhibition at the Castle Museum on the World Heritage Site of Stiftsberg Quedlinburg is progressing steadily. The preparation of the exhibits marks the start of a particularly sensitive phase of museum work. This phase will determine how historical objects will be perceived in future – in the interplay of space, light and perspective.

The expansion of the new palace museum on Stiftsberg hill in Quedlinburg is progressing visibly. While restoration work continues in parts of the residential building and the future exhibition rooms are taking shape, an important milestone has already been reached: an extraordinary exhibit, one of the most significant objects in the new permanent exhibition, is now in its final location.

Stiftsberg will reopen on 28 March 2026 – and until then, work will continue at full speed. Step by step, a castle museum is being created that preserves historical substance while also breaking new ground in terms of communication – and will make Stiftsberg accessible to the public again from spring 2026.
