Congratulations to the future tour guides at Stiftsberg Quedlinburg – you've taken the first step!

Ceremonial presentation of participation certificates

On Monday, 23 February 2026, the 36 participants in the "Stiftsberg Tour Guide" course received their certificates of participation in an extraordinary setting. The event, held in the future exhibition rooms of the Residenzschloss (residential palace) on Stiftsberg, marked the successful completion of the theoretical part of their training – an important milestone on the way to the reopening of Stiftsberg. Twenty-one participants successfully completed the course with an exam. This entitles them to take part in the second part of the course – the practical training.

A special moment for Stiftsberg

In a small, dignified setting and in the presence of the press, representatives of the World Heritage City of Quedlinburg, the Harz District Adult Education Centre and the Protestant Parish of Quedlinburg presented the certificates to the tour guides. Between March and November 2025, the tour guides had undergone 34 hours of intensive training on the history of the Stiftsberg and the future exhibition in order to guide future visitors through the castle museum and St. Servatii's Collegiate Church. Now comes the practical part of the training, in which they will apply and deepen their knowledge directly on site.

The Stiftsberg comes to life

The Stiftsberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994, is a place of exceptional historical significance. With the tombs of King Henry I and Saint Matilda, as a scene of European history and a place of centuries of female rule, it is a central cultural heritage site. After completing their training, the tour guides will help to bring this more than 1,100-year-old history to life and make it accessible to visitors.

Looking ahead

After the certificates were presented, those involved took the opportunity to find out about the current status of the exhibition setup. The tour guides are highly motivated to soon accompany groups through the new exhibition at Stiftsberg themselves and bring it to life as a place of encounter and culture.
