Scientific Advisory Board meeting

On 19 and 20 January, the scientific advisory board for the redesign of the Stiftsberg museum in Quedlinburg met for the fourth time. The advisory board is composed of scientists from various fields, members of the State Chancellery and experts from the Saxony-Anhalt Museum Association. The aim of the event was to seek advice on the structural and design redevelopment of the Stiftsberg ensemble in order to keep the weighting and communication of the complex topics up to date with the latest scientific findings. The curators of the castle museum and the curators of the cathedral treasury presented the finalised joint script for the future exhibition and the plans for the interior design and object presentation. The advisory board responded very positively to the content and design concept. The advisory board members provided additional suggestions on how the exhibition topics could be presented in a scientifically accurate manner and conveyed to future visitors in a clear and easily understandable way. Finally, the advisory board visited the future exhibition rooms on Stiftsberg together with employees of the municipal museums and the city archives and the exhibition designer. Here, they were able to relocate the topics spatially and also explore the areas intended for service and visitor guidance, such as the ticket office, cloakrooms, new stairs and the lifts currently under construction to ensure accessibility. The 4th advisory board meeting was very important for finalising the exhibition design, the implementation of which can now begin. The new Stiftsberg ensemble is scheduled to open its doors at the end of 2025.
