Topping-out ceremony on Stiftsberg hill

03.02.2025

Topping-out ceremony? That only happens with new buildings! Yes, that's right – there was a topping-out ceremony to celebrate on Stiftsberg.

The only new building to be constructed as part of the museum's redesign is the garden house in the abbey garden. Thanks to donations from the assets of political parties and mass organisations, the garden house on the eastern plateau could be reconstructed in its original form. The garden house was already part of the abbey gardens in the 17th century, but disappeared around 1956. Based on historical plans and drawings, the overall impression from the 18th century is being restored, as was the case with the façade of the abbey buildings. The garden house will be incorporated into the museum's educational concept in the future.
